COVID-19 tests and vaccines are free and readily available. As always, remember to get tested if you have symptoms. Please make sure your family, friends and co-workers get vaccinated too. The vaccines are lifesaving and economy-saving. The majority of Nashville residents have already taken the important step of getting vaccinated to protect their health and their familyвЂ™s health. I urge everyone to join me in getting vaccinated against COVID-19. The virus is still with us, but we now have a way to protect ourselves. With the Delta variant causing a rapid increase in COVID-19 cases, Metro Government again began requiring face coverings inside Metro Government buildings beginning August 5, 2021. Six weeks after the vaccine became widely available to all adults, Metro Public Health lifted all COVID-19 capacity restrictions and the mask mandate on May 14, 2021. That is a great community achievement in a period of public health crisis.ДЄs Nashville rebounds from the depths of the pandemic, vaccinations are the best tool for protecting our community. Your work вЂ“ vaccinating, masking, distancing, and getting tested вЂ“ has saved hundreds of lives here in Nashville. As the science predicted, NashvilleвЂ™s case fatality rate is roughly half that of Tennessee counties without masking and distancing requirements. But our community has come together to keep each other safe during the pandemic. The COVID-19 pandemic has been a time of unprecedented challenge for all Nashvillians. Weekly COVID Briefing вЂ“ AugA Message from Mayor John Cooper has updated its authorizations to allow medical providers to boost people with a different vaccine than the one they initially received, a strategy known as вЂњmix and match.вЂќ Whether you received Moderna, Johnson & Johnson or Pfizer-BioNTech, you may receive a booster of any other vaccine. Those seeking the vaccine can also check with their pediatrician, nearby pharmacies, grocery locations, and walk-in clinics. Vaccine will also be available at the Health DepartmentвЂ™s community pop up vaccination clinics starting next week. The vaccine will be available beginning Monday, November 8 at MetroвЂ™s two drive-thru locations. The vaccine also differs from the existing formulation that teens and adults have been getting in that it can be stored in a refrigerator for up to 10 weeks - making it easier for private medical offices and other locations to keep and administer the vaccine. Children would receive a second dose 21 days or more after their first shot. The CDC has approved the use of the vaccine which contains one-third the amount of active ingredient used in the vaccine for those 12 years old and up. There is good news for those wanting their 5 вЂ“ 11 year-olds to receive the Pfizer Covid vaccine. Visit to find locations where each is being offered. There is an ample supply of all three types of vaccine across our community. Those 18 and older who are similarly immunocompromised are eligible to receive a second booster dose of Moderna at least four months after receiving the first booster dose.Д«oosters of the Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson vaccine are available at the drive-thru sites and pop-up community vaccination events. Those 12 and older who are immunocompromised are eligible to receive a second booster dose of the Pfizer vaccine at least four months after the first booster dose. Those age 50 and older are eligible to receive a second booster dose of Pfizer or Moderna at least four months after receiving their first booster dose.

The CDC has updated its recommendations on second booster doses for those age 50 and older and those who are immunocompromised. For those who received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, a booster dose can be administered as early as two months after the initial dose was administered.

For those who received the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, boosters can be administered as early as five months after the second dose was administered. The CDC recommends all people 12 and older receive a booster shot of the COVID-19 vaccine.
